Life in Alleluia is structured around a full life in the Holy Spirit, including agreements, accountability, scripture study, teachings, formations programs, recreation, ministry and service. In the earlier years of the community our agreements and beliefs held in common were unwritten.

As the community grew and our numbers increased it became more difficult to maintain a common memory, interpretation and understanding of our agreements. In March 1999 the Governmental Council developed the first draft of the documents that would articulate the principles, values, agreements, and structures, which are part of the life of the Alleluia Community. The Community then entered a period of internal dialogue through the process of input and consultation that led to the development and confirmation of our Foundational Documents.

We have made these Foundational Documents available to our visitors because of the insight they provide into the life of the Alleluia Community. Links to the documents are found in the left margin of this page.

We hope that the fruit of our 28+ years of building and living a community life together will be an inspiration and blessing to you. We are always ready to assist others who hear the call to build Christian Community.

The Alleluia Community Covenant

Jesus is our Lord!

The Lord has called us to make a solemn covenant with Him and with one another to be a people of praise. We accept the Lordship of Jesus in our lives, individually and as a people. He has destroyed our isolation and joined us together.

We commit ourselves fully, subordinate to our primary covenants to marriage, celibacy and the church, as brothers and sisters in the Lord, entrusting our lives to Him and to each other in Him. We promise to build up, exhort, admonish and listen to one another; to be quick to forgive and to ask forgiveness; to assist each other in seeking His perfect will in all things.

Introduction

The primary foundational document of the Alleluia Community is the Alleluia Covenant. The Covenant articulates our basic understanding of who we are called to be as a people, our purpose for being a people and how we are to order our relationships within the covenant. This blueprint for covenant relationships is ultimately what shapes the form of government for the Community.

The Full Covenant members of the Alleluia Covenant use the following method for making their in common agreements, defining issues, and deciding what and how issues are held commonly within the Alleluia Community. Alleluia does not hold all things as in-common agreements. It only holds commonly those issues that have been agreed upon. Prior to such agreement, everyone may act according to their individual conscience and discernment. When an issue surfaces that may need common resolution, unless it is resolved within an existing in common agreement, it is brought to the attention of the Elders.

During our first years, a number of prophetic words led to a distillation that has come to be known as the Ten Words. The following Ten Words epitomize the nature and character of the vision God gave to the Alleluia Community:

  1. Be holy
  2. Be one
  3. Owe no man
  4. Heal the whole man
  5. Prepare for tribulation
